For about 30 years now, Steve Mattos has been an innovative force amongst noise and psych rock aficionados. From the founding of Arab on Radar in the mid 90’s to a short lived duo as Athletic Automaton with current THERE drummer, Pat Crump, to an Arab on Radar/Chinese Stars spin off in Doomsday Student. All of those projects making way for his latest endeavor, THERE. An interesting blend of heavy psych rock bordering on prog with a tinge of that freakout weirdness that Steve has become known for. THERE’s self titled debut is slated for release 01/30/2026 with limited lavender vinyl variant and digital download.

Currently the bass/synth player and vocalist for THERE, Josh Kemp has been an equally integral part of the Providence music scene as all the members of THERE are. From his early days being the bass player for glam punk, sleeze band The L.U.V.’S to the hard edged synth party duo, Mahi Mahi and Beta Motel to eventually replacing Rick Pelletier in The Chinese Stars with Arab on Radar alum Eric Paul and Craig Kureck.
