Rhode Island underground feminist punk-built on noise, sarcasm, and rage.
Hailing from the Creative Capital of Providence, Muffin is a feminist punk powerhouse fueled by a cocktail of rage, sarcasm, and zero patience for the status quo. What started in March 2025 as a Riot Grrrl cover band has evolved into a sonic assault of original material built on the collective pedigree of their history in local underground music scenes. Muffin brings a sophisticated, multi-dimensional mastery to the stage, drawing on years of shared experience in DIY shows, concert photography, burlesque production, and talent management. Their sound fuses veteran grit with the jagged, fem-led influences of the ’90s, channeling the raw and confrontational fury of punk the way it was meant to be played: loud, fast, and aggressively over it.
Their 2026 EP, “Get Baked,” was masterfully engineered at Lucky Star Studio (Olneyville, RI) by Sammy D’Ambruoso (Ministry, Surgical Meth Machine) and is an inspired take on the punk genre. The opener, “Little Miss Black Eyeliner,” rolls out the gritty, cigarette-singed, beer-soaked carpet, inviting listeners in while the oncoming assault of hard and fast punk tracks “Eat It or Beat It” and “Bitches in the Bathroom” wait behind the door with chains and whips (if you’re lucky). After a brief taste of radio-friendly reprieve with the upbeat, retro-sleek “So Chic,” it’s back to business with the snarling and tearing of “Inside Out” and the particularly snotty and ferocious rendition of “Whatever.” Six songs in under 14 minutes. It’s punk as fuck and a stunningly fully formed debut release from the city’s premier fem-punk act.
